About Sofia
The unintended expat blogger behind Silver Stream Lab

Hello, I'm Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Barcelona, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Silver Stream Lab
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sofia
